Meet The Board

president
My name is John Weiland, and I have the honor of serving as the President of SOS, an organization founded by my father and entrusted to me in 2025. I proudly served for eight years in the United States Marine Corps as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. Following my military service, I transitioned into education, teaching within Crowley ISD. It was during my time as an educator that I became actively involved with SOS—initially by guiding hunts, organizing fishing trips for veterans and first responders, and offering support through conversation and companionship. Today, I work at NAS JRB Fort Worth as a Depot-Level Ground Support Technician, continuing my commitment to service by supporting both the Navy and Marine Corps. With the unwavering support of our board members and the brave men and women we serve, I am dedicated to advancing our mission of promoting the mental well-being of veterans and first responders—those who have selflessly protected the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. And as always, Semper Fidelis.

vice president
My name is Marisa Tipton-Allen, and I am grateful to be the Vice President of SOS. My initial experience with SOS was as a volunteer for the annual hog hunt event in Ennis, Texas. Let me tell you, it hooked me. Seeing the examples and proof of efforts put forth on behalf of our warriors. As a Navy Airframer, the need to take care of our own runs deep within me, and the number of brothers and sisters that get lost when they are home is staggering. I have always known I wanted to find a way to help reduce the chasm between each of us, and we can't wait to do that here at SOS one day at a time.

Matt Allen
treasurer
My name is Matt Allen, and as a former Deputy Sheriff, I have witnessed firsthand the areas within our communities that are in need of greater support, especially when it comes to our nation's warriors. Many simply need a space to reconnect, whether through group therapy sessions or shared time at the range with fellow veterans and first responders. At SOS, we are actively seeking opportunities to expand our reach and deepen our impact. I have never encountered an organization quite like this one, and I am truly honored to serve as Treasurer. It is a privilege to be part of a mission dedicated to supporting the brave men and women who have selflessly protected our safety and freedom. I look forward to continuing this important work, helping every warrior we can.

Jaclyn Strock
marketing director
My name is Jaclyn Strock, I am a full-time mom, full-time contract negotiator and an avid supporter of veterans and first responders. Being a part of this organization is a blast, and I look forward to helping it grow and reach more warriors!

Emily Simmons
media director
My name is Emily Simmons, and I am a Graphic Designer specializing in print media. While earning my BFA from the University of North Texas, I launched my own business, DefiedDesigns LLC. From the beginning, my passion has been using design to help individuals and businesses connect with their audiences and effectively communicate their message. Being part of SOS has been a deeply fulfilling experience, allowing me to use my creative skills in support of an incredible mission. It’s an honor to contribute to an organization that serves those in need—especially the veterans and first responders who have courageously protected our nation. Through SOS, we are building a strong, supportive community for these brave warriors, one they truly deserve.
